    A FEW WEEKS BEFORE YOUR MOVE
    Advise the following people of your move
    • Telephone, internet and cellular phone service provider
    • The Post Office – for mail redirection
    • Electricity, gas and water authority
    • Municipality
    • Bank (direct debit arrangements)
    • Taxation Department
    • Insurance Companies
    • Motor Registration Authority
    • Health Fund, doctor and dentist
    • Clubs
    • Magazine & newspaper subscriptions
    • School – arrange for records to be transferred
    • Solicitor
    • Place of worship
    • Librar

    SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE YOUR MOVE
    • Collect your family’s medical and dental records.
    • Remember to cancel newspapers, cleaning, gardening and other local services.
    • Dispose of all flammable goods and prohibited items.
    • Get advice from the manufacturers of your washing machine, fridge, freezer and other appliances, regarding whether they need special attention prior to transportation.
    • Arrange for somebody to look after your children on packing day, if you can.
    • Sell/dispose of any furniture that you are not taking with you.
    • Backup your computer hard disk. Ensure your printer, scanner etc., is prepared for transport.
    • Disassemble any built-in fixtures and fittings, prefabricated furniture and outdoor items (keeping bolts, screws in an envelope for safekeeping)
    A DAY BEFORE YOUR MOVE
    • Keep all your valuables (jewelry, passports, documentation, tickets and money) with you.
    • Collect dry-cleaning/ laundry.
    • Empty and clean rubbish bins.
    • Your pets should be ready for collection. Send a familiar toy to comfort the pet during travel.
    • Make sure all accommodation and travel arrangements are booked and confirmed.
    • Make sure gas cylinders have been emptied and certified by an authorized gas cylinder test station  and that fuel is drained from fuel driven appliances.
    • Empty, defrost and dry your fridge and freezer.
    • Drain washing machine hoses and leave them to dry overnight.
    • Disconnect music systems and computer equipment. Tape the wires and leads together.
    • You should arrange to be at your home on packing days. If you can’t, send someone you trust to act  as your representative

  • PACKING AND LOADING TIPS

  • packingPreparation:
    • Separate all items you intend to keep with you during your travels; passport, money and jewelry, airline ticket etc.
    • If you plan on living in the residence during the packing, set aside items which you will need  and may be packed last  (e.g. toiletries and some clothing)

    On The Day:
    • Our team will arrive at your residence within  the agreed timeframe
    • The supervisor will do a complete walk through  your residence with you to understand and verify your moving requirements. Please discuss  any special concerns you may have
    • Once packing is completed, make a final inspection of each room to ensure that nothing has been missed or left behind

    If part of your shipment is going into storage, make sure that all items you need at your residence are separated from those for storage

  • delivery Preparation
    • This is a very busy day so you may need someone  to assist you. Review the layout of your new home  and determine the placement of the large pieces  of furniture
    • If you believe there may be issues concerning the delivery, please advise us in advance to avoid delays, upset and additional cost. Potential problems  may include:
    • Difficulty/ restricted access by the truck/container
    • Stairs/elevators
    • Narrow doors or hallways

    Delivery Day
    Our team will arrive at your residence within the agreed timeframe
    • We will do a walk-through of your residence with you and this is a good time to discuss the layout and placement of the larger pieces of furniture
    • You will need to check off all items  (using the inventory sheet) being brought into the residence to confirm receipt and ensure nothing is missing
    • All large items will be unwrapped (unpacked)  and placed according to your instructions.   All smaller items (items in cartons), will be unpacked and placed onto a flat surface (counter top, table top, table, floor, bed etc.)
